I am sure many of you have seen the competent Touhou Maikaze doujin anime, A Summer Day’s Dream, just released at Comiket less than two weeks ago. Now I have gotten a chance to interview Talka, a member of the Maikaze doujin circle, on his group’s work, Touhou doujin, his thoughts on American Touhou/doujin game fandom, or just about anything relevant. I’ll be interviewing Tokine, Maikaze’s leader through Talka.
This is where you come in. I’m soliciting questions for the interview here (in my comments) and elsewhere. I’ll be taking the best questions and submitting them to Talka.

Hey Hinano, you are such an awesome artist. I love how you have no grasp of perspective or proportions. I bet you think having huge ANIME wings and small bodies looks beautiful and romantic or some terrible nonsense. Maybe if you drew your females even further off the ground, it would look better. Having your images look as if they were played around with by a fifth grader in Illustrator for ten minutes is pretty damn cool.
Do both characters have the same ridiculous purple-patterned bottoms because cloning is easy? Did you steal the pattern from some free site?
What is a background? I don’t know what those are. Can you tell me what background is, Hinano? I’m not sure if you can.
You should quit drawing while you’re ahead, Hinano. Or maybe you shouldn’t, since we’d all have slightly less comedy in our lives. Your “art”, not that it qualifies as art, will inspire future actual artists on what not to do. You’re like the Rob Liefeld of pixiv.
Just ten days before Comiket 75 and we get a second short trailer of POP’s Kowarekake no Orgol, his self-published doujin anime about a depressed musician who meets a mysterious cute loli little girl. The budget looks ginormous for an “amateur” work like this, complemented by POP’s signature cute cute moe designs. He has to have some pro animators working for him here. Since this does have a musical element to it, I hope the soundtrack is high quality enough.
This certainly has more adorable potential than the huge disappointment that was the Moetan anime.
While I’m very satisfied with Geneon/Funimation’s recent Nanoha DVD release for all the elements I care about, an irrelevant bit highly assumes me. For the five minutes I checked out the dub, as I do typically for a new release out of slight curiosity, why are the previously English-speaking Intelligent Devices redubbed with new English voices?
Raging Heart goes from cheesy awesome Donna Burke to, well, possibly more bland and boring than a text-to-speech program. I love my “I CAN BE SHOT”. Doesn’t everyone? It is quite mind boggling and funny in a terrible missing-the-point sense, unless they couldn’t license the original acting. Otherwise, it was a very poor decision on their part.
The illustrious J of Nico Nico Douga fame has done it again with his cover of Mizuki Nana’s Pray. He is a man that all men must aspire to be.

Looks like I need to watch Pretty Cure, though I’ll just stick with slowly watching Yes! Precure 5 (complete with almost badass transformation scenes) and the new Fresh Precure in a few weeks. Maybe the movies. The franchise is too crazy Shonen Jump long to start with at the beginning.
Elsewhere on the magical girl continent comes news of a Cardcaptor Sakura BluRay release. CCS BRD is out in two sets on March 27th and June 26th, 2009 respectively for the low, low price of 131,250 yen (approximately $1400, so cheap) combined. Does this mean I have to take out a second mortgage to afford upscaled Sakura cuteness?
In today’s random thought of the day, why isn’t a single Hidamari Sketch x365 figure? Where’s my episode 1 red skirt Yuno figure? Or a Miyako Figma? I’d consider buying a figure for once, if so!
