We may never know why Kyoto Animation’s Tonari no 801-chan was cancelled. It is quite the shame, considering I was hoping for a possibly more experimental and certainly out of the norm work for KyoAni. As much as they do great work, it’s mostly standard direction with their own twists. I’d much rather see divergent works coming out of there and Tonari was seeming to be that trigger.
Who knows? Maybe it’ll resurface under another studio in a year or two or less? SDS has some amusing thoughts on the cancellation.
Wow, this is such a well-composed opening that has come out of nowhere, for me at least.
I hardly care about Umineko no Naku Koro Ni adapted to animation, unless Studio Deen wants to go with a different approach than the ill-fated Higurashi, but this is an exceptional opening. Better than the already top-quality Higurashi theme songs.
Rima was merely the practice round. Amu is the real deal in Saimoe. This is why every single Shugo Chara fan must declare their support for the Cool and Spicy One. She needs to exceed everyone’s expectations and destroy her competition. Send a message that uber cute magical girls mean business.
If you’re still unfamiliar with Saimoe, take a quick hop over to Certifiably Insane, as I referenced earlier. All it takes is a slightly long wait for your vote code and a five minute vote submission. <<日奈森あむ(日奈森亜夢)@しゅごキャラ! >> is what you’ll need to paste after your vote code.
For those that have no love for Amu (shame on you!), she is voiced by the up and coming Kanae Ito, who you can also hear in the currently airing Birdy the Mighty in another cute role.

This was the worst episode of anime I’ve seen all year. No joke.
Which Chaos God is right for you?

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (or WAR) is Mythic’s, of Dark Age of Camelot fame, upcoming MMO. It will be out soon on September 18th. WAR is notable as the first real player versus player (PvP) MMO in years (that isn’t the dead-on-arrival Age of Conan). Thankfully, Mythic decided to go with what they know and build the game off of DAoC with a similar realm versus realm system (RvR), so some of you will be right at home here. The two factions are the righteous Order and the badass Destruction. Guess who I will be, before scrolling down.

I can hardy wait to bash in some Order skulls in as a Chaos Zealot and Goblin Shaman, starting in tomorrow’s Preview Weekend. The test will be going for this weekend and then the open beta will be starting up on September 7th. I urge all those interested to pre-order the game to try it out in beta. You won’t be disappointed.
And yes, this will be my latest MMO addiction when it releases. I can hardly wait.
Today is Rima’s chance in Saimoe. Everyone go vote for the cute cute tsundere magical girl!
She’s even voiced by Sayuri Yahagi, a talented, young seiyuu, so more reason with double the moe.
If you don’t know on how to vote in Saimoe, Certifiably Insane has in-depth voting instructions. <<真城りま@しゅごキャラ!>> is what you’ll need to paste, along with your vote code.
Koishi is Subterranean Animism’s extra stage boss. She loves you with her heart missiles. Loves you so much that she called her spell card Heart Missiles. <3
Sanae’s back in the extra stage to befriend Reimu some more.
What’s wrong with you, ZUN? This art is horrid even for you. Stop drinking every second of the day. At least ZUN was able to top MoF Reimu with Satori.
Hey look, it’s Chen and China’s illegitimate child.
Badass nuclear fusion world domination in my Touhou? Wacky. Utsuho’s last spell card with the expanding nuclear blast is very nice. The entire battle is epic with that music. Much better designed than MoF’s Kanako as a last boss.
In short, ZUN has designed some quite interesting characters in (post-demo) Subterranean Animism. He should bash his head against a wall a few times for Satori, though.
And Koishi is adorable. <3
