Unlike the naysayers, I’ve enjoyed the majority of Shugo Chara, with and without the filler. Sure, we’ve had some rough spots (the recent string of fillers was very ), yet I see Shugo Chara as the best pure magical girl series since Cardcaptor Sakura.

Some are forgetting how much CCS and other magical girl favorites have differed from their source material. If anything, Shugo Chara’s more faithful in certain areas than some adaptions have been in the past. And what’s wrong with a TV series complementing the manga? Besides, I love seeing the best scenes from the comic animated.

That’s why I’m ecstatic when I hear a second season has been greenlight. Another year of Amu’s adorable life and magical girl adventures with Ikuto and her friends? Two or three new cute openings? Yes, please. I’ll watch it alone for new Amu outfits.

I almost wish the next season could be directed by Kou Matsuo and the animation done by Nomad, so we could see a darker latter half of the series. Sadly, this can’t happen.
