Why must Metal Gear Solid 4 have such an attractive quality to it? My wallet prefers its weight. That gritty realism, with possibly the best character animation to date, is so enticing. Yet it still has this cartoony buffer to it that reassures us that MGS4 is a video game, not a pure cinematic experience.

How much better would have Bioshock been, if when we encountered a splicer, we heard a flashy sound effect with an indicator over its head, before it came to mercilessly charge at us? Not that Bioshock was a poor game by any means (I happened to like it), but Metal Gear Solid 4 looks to be showing the entertainment world that Konami means business. I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised on how the game lives up (or surpasses) the hype, come June.

I wanted to put off buying a Playstation 3 for a few more months/years. At this rate, I’ll have to buy my second console of this generation by July. Before everyone asks, I own a Wii. And no, I’m not buying a Xbox 360 because a friend already has one that I spend enough time on.

Speaking of 360, I wish Epic would have mixed it up with Gears of War 2. I didn’t care for the first Gears much as it is and this new entry seems very drab and tired. Rehashes outshine their welcome too quickly in my heart.

From somewhat related to MGS department, but doesn’t deserve an entry of its own comes a surprise. Kojima announced today that after MGS4, he’s interested in revisiting Zone of the Enders. Fuck yes, Zone of the Enders 3. I can’t wait.
